Puerto Rico Now Requires Non-Resident Manufacturers, Wholesalers, And Third-Party Logistic Providers to Hold a Non-Resident Wholesale Distributor Permit.
The Puerto Rico Secretary of Health announced that all non-resident companies who wish to ship product or pass title to customers in Puerto Rico must now be authorized and properly permitted by the Secretary for all transactions involving prescription and OTC drugs and devices as well as homeopathic and nutritional supplements. The online portal is now accepting applications.
The Secretary of Health announced the enforcement of this new non-resident licensing requirement. As of July 1, 2022. All non-resident pharmaceutical establishments that ship and/or pass title to any customers in Puerto Rico must seek proper authorization for those activities from the Department of Health. This permitting process is online and will require a bond, background check of the facility’s designated representative, verification of home state licensure, and other items.
For more than fifteen years, PharmaRegs, our sister company on the Island, has been providing representative agent services and is recognized by the Puerto Rico Department of Health. PharmaRegs can quickly apply for the new Puerto Rico Non-Resident Wholesale Distributor Authorization on your behalf and secure the required local bond at the most competitive price.
